Tips For Writing to Legislators

Send letter by e-mail or fax. US Postal Service mail may not reach your legislator.
Address the letter to "The Honorable (name)".
Call first. It's good to have the name of the education staff person so you can put that name on the fax cover sheet or copy him/her on the e-mail.
Letters from parents are effective when they 1) are well-written, 2) explain what Even Start has meant in their own lives, and 3) are original, not a form letter.
