History of NESA
The National Even Start Association was formed in 1997 to provide a forum to meet the unique needs to Even Start Family Literacy Providers and to advocate for the Even Start Family Literacy program. The Board of Directors represents the diversity of the nation, both demographically and by experience.
NESA membership has increased from 100 to 1000 since its formation. The National Even Start Association is a membership organization that includes interested parties who support the purposes of Even Start Family Literacy. The goal of our organization is to:
- Ensure the continuity and quality of NESA leadership.
- Generate awareness and support for Even Start Family Literacy Programs.
- Provide professional services that support quality in Even Start Family Literacy Programs.
- Create a national credentialing system that assists programs to meet statutory requirements for Even Start Personnel.
